The UK is ready to advance with employing the total value of immobilized Russian assets to aid Ukraine's military campaign, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the UK, the French Republic, and Germany stated that this unified step would escalate tension on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and compel Moscow to participate in talks.

They added that the decision would be executed in tight collaboration with the United States.

UK sanctions have immobilized over £25bn of Russia's resources since Russia began its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, up to this point, resources allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russian assets had only been sourced from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir told Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and Germany were in agreement in their desire to push forward toward employing the complete amount of the seized Russia's state holdings to end the war.

He noted that further sanctions over the next period would apply more pressure on Russia.

This statement comes after European Union representatives met in Copenhagen recently to consider employing immobilized Russian holdings for a 140-billion-euro loan to Ukraine.

Last month, American leader Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to confiscate or utilize seized Russian holdings, as reported by news outlets.

The total of immobilized Russian funds in the European Union is assessed to be almost €211bn.

The Russian government carried out widespread aerial attacks all over the Ukrainian territory on Friday, leading to blackouts in many areas of Kyiv, the city, and several other zones.

A pair of individuals were lost their lives and a minimum of 20 people were wounded in the assault, Ukrainian officials stated.

In a post on social media after the incident, Zelensky stated that the strategic strike focused on public and utility structures.

"What is required is not just talk but concrete steps - from the United States, EU, and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and applying penalties," he wrote.

"Every sanction decision diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky wrote, in a different message.

In the same period, Zelensky stated to reporters he would press Sir Keir to join the weapons procurement program, under which Nato countries acquire military equipment from the US to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the United Kingdom's firm backing for Kyiv, he said it should demonstrate clearly that it would participate in the initiative, as well as impose more measures on Moscow.
