Marnus Labuschagne Dropped from Australia's ODI Squad Against India
The Australian selectors have left out Labuschagne from Australia's three-match ODI series versus India, as in-form Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw earning a unexpected inclusion.
Recent Form Lead to Omission
Selectors dropped Labuschagne from the one-day international side following scoring just one run in both of his innings during the recent series against South Africa in August. He has a best innings of forty-seven in his previous ten ODI innings.
Labuschagne has featured in 68 ODIs and amassed 1,871 ODI runs at an average of 34.64 runs per dismissal, but will now work towards a return to the Test side ahead of the Ashes beginning in Perth on November 21.
Surprise Inclusion and Team Changes
Labuschagne has shown signs of a resurgence with 160 for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield this week, while Renshaw made a hundred for the Bulls in the identical match against Tasmania.
Renshaw could to make his ODI debut in the upcoming series against India after previously being selected in an ODI squad in 2022.
Renshaw has played 14 Test matches with the last coming in India in 2023 but is also aiming for a Test return as Australia seek a answer to their opening batting issues.

Australia have named a squad for only the first two T20s against India with the Ashes on the horizon, although Glenn Maxwell will miss all of the five-match series due to a wrist injury sustained in New Zealand.
Mitch Marsh will skipper both the ODI and T20 sides after hitting a ton in the last match against New Zealand to clinch a two-nil victory last week.
“Selectors have announced a squad for the ODI series and first two games of the T20 series as there will be rotation through the back end of the series as players get ready for the summer through Sheffield Shield cricket,” selection chief George Bailey said.
“The bulk of the T20 squad will stay as a group as it’s an important period in the build towards the World Cup next year, however we are trying to strike a balance to ensure we simultaneously get ready certain individuals for the Test series ahead.”
Australia’s three-game ODI series against India commences on 19 October in Perth, before the rivals play five T20s from 29 October.
