Jurgen Klopp says coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure that included continental glory and the Premier League crown in 30 years, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor to Germany's league body.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

The club claimed England's top flight last season, though countless followers holding him in high esteem would embrace the notion that he might come back one day. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to the podcast host: “I declared I refuse to lead a different club in England. So that means in case it's my former club...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, that means I could make the decision later on, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. But thank God, it's not necessary. I can just see how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding the specific conditions would have to unfold to bring him back to management, he confessed he was not instantly drawn to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing during downpours through long matches; No need for press conferences repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal with the team enjoying conversation, is pleasant. We won a lot of games thus frequently positive atmosphere around the place. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter in my ear for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

He spoke highly for his successor, crediting him for the adjustments that won the league in the previous season. They've been defeated a string of losses across various tournaments following significant transfers, though he denied the idea it could be a decline.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. No need for concern about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition in 2020, along with the consequences at the club. The Portugal international lost his life in a vehicle collision alongside his brother this past summer.

“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond the player himself, it's his character. I can’t imagine the team environment without him in it. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. A profound tragedy for all the boys as well. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it for poor performances but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Coping with it individually is not easy. Unbearable.”
